In case you wish to explore Kiev, it is not the best location because distance from the central city areas. Kiev is a grandiose city you will hardly find similar scales in central Europe. What makes it very special is the hills and for a viewing point you do not need to look for rooftops of restaurants or business centers - Kyiv can be viewed from  a thousand angles from a height just by walking around it. It's especially interesting to know the historical context and to see a map of the city in the 11th century. Visit Kiev now..or wait until the nonsense ends and the hordes descend upon it, which will happen when commercial air service resumes..



Another is O'Briens on Mykailivska (one of the streets running west off Maidan sq., the one to the right, with a branch of OTP Bank on the corner). A new one has opened in Podil, on the corner of Gostyny Dvor, near the Dutch embassy (can't miss it as it's close to the bottom of Andryevsky) called the Belfast Pub. Besides these centrally located pubs, others lie elsewhere in Kyiv, but do not cater to ex-pats and have reasonable prices. Their main advantage is free WiFi, while on the downside are the prices that are rather high on Kyiv standards.

The updated death toll comes five days after a missile damaged a residential building in the town. A number of makeshift barricades have been installed around Ukraine's capital city of Kyiv by groups of neighborhood volunteers in preparation for a possible siege by Russian forces. Satellite images provided by Maxar Technologies show what is said to be a 40-mile-long convoy of Russian military troops and machinery moving toward Kyiv, but still miles from the center of the capital.

German lawmakers on Thursday voted to send "heavy weapons and complex machinery" to Ukraine just one week after claiming its arms reserves were tapped. President Biden on Thursday is requesting $33 billion from Congress for additional security, military and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine and for U.S. efforts to strengthen European security in cooperation with NATO allies and partners. The letter, which was provided in coordination with the statement, reportedly shows that all men under the age of 55 have been asked by the Ministry of Defense of Transnistria to join a "special meeting" for 90 days to bolster its army. Ukraine on Thursday championed its evolving partnership with NATO as "full interoperability" and said it has gained access to the alliance’s modern weaponry as its war with Russia continues for the ninth week. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was in the Ukrainian capital city to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. German energy company Uniper has conceded to Russia’s demands and will utilize the ruble conversion plan outlined by Moscow despite concerns it will undermine sanctions.
“The terrorist state has just demonstrated how crucial this decision is,” Zelenskyy said, referring to the overnight strikes. Azerbaijan sent troops to Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, and after just one day of fighting, Armenian separatist forces who had controlled the region for three decades surrendered. Armenia and Azerbaijan have fought two wars in the last three decades over the region, which had been a majority-ethnic-Armenian enclave within the internationally recognized border of Azerbaijan since the Soviet collapse. Poland, however, now has a new pro-EU government under Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Poland’s new foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, was in Kyiv on December 22 on his first official trip abroad since the new government took office. Following the attack, the national police announced they have increased security around public buildings and schools, which are closed for the Christmas holiday, across the country.
Russia attacked Kropyvnytskyi with ballistic missiles from Russian-occupied Crimea, Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said on national television.
