I was a student of Karate For Kids for eight years from the age of 7. My mum originally enrolled me because I was (in her words) "an uncoordinated bag of bones". My confidence grew, I made friends I'm still in contact with to this day, and it taught me how to cope with bullying in early year 7. After achieving my junior black belt I began assisting other students and I later returned as an assistant instructor, and then instructor. The experience, discipline and leadership skills I developed at Karate For Kids have also directly benefited me outside of karate, in applications for jobs, on-campus accommodation during my studies, and more. I made it a point to carry and pass on the same principles to my own students.
