The first objective was achieved by coordinating social science, science and engineering, during which process important findings were obtained related to the execution of cross-disciplinary research. The second objective was satisfactorily fulfilled. For the third objective, we held the workshops at researcher level and developed the GIS-based scenario method prototype. Only this much was achieved because it took longer than expected to clarify the entire problem and achieve the objectives for each hierarchy. The fourth objective was satisfactorily achieved.

Using this model, we predicted the response of cAMP, as a second messanger of dopamine and adenosine inputs. As a result, the direct and indirect MSNs exhibit flip-flop-like response to the dopamine input under physiological conditions, but the upregulation of indirect MSNs by low dopamine input diminished in the absence of adenosine. The results suggest that the phosphoresponses in the D1R MSNs and D2R MSNs are observed only when dopamine level increases or decreases, respectively.

Investigation involved researchers in social science and those in science and engineering cooperating with each other and preparing workshops or local reporting events. Coordinated research using stable isotopes and environmental indexes was conducted jointly with the CREST Project of Kyoto University. The CREST Project has also started research on foreign water systems, for example in Mongolia, in addition to that on domestic systems including the Lake Biwa-Yodo River watershed. 【1】 The stable isotopic ratio of sulfur and strontium was investigated for 41 rivers flowing into Lake Biwa,and it was revealed that small rivers in the eastern lakeside area, where agricultural activities are very prosperous, are the main cause of recent water quality changes in Lake Biwa.
To further investigate whether a timely activation of the DRN serotonergic neurons causes animals to be more patient for delayed rewards, we introduced transgenic mice that expressed the channelrhodopsin-2 variant ChR2 in the serotonin neurons. We confirmed that blue light stimulation of DRN effectively activate serotonin neurons by monitoring serotonin efflux in the medial prefrontal. We found that serotonin neuron stimulation prolonged the time animals spent for waiting in reward omission trials. This effect was observed specifically when the animal was engaged in deciding whether to keep waiting and not due to motor inhibition. Control experiments showed that the prolonged waiting times observed with optogenetic stimulation were not due to behavioral inhibition or the reinforcing effects of serotonergic activation (Miyazaki et al., Curr Biol, 2014). These results show that the timed activation of serotonin neurons during waiting promotes animals’ patience to wait for delayed rewards.
It is easy to design a sparse reward function which gives a positive reward when the task is accomplished and zero otherwise, but that makes it hard to find an optimal policy. In some situations, it is easier to prepare examples of a desired behavior than to handcraft an appropriate reward/cost function. Recently, Inverse Reinforcement Learning has been proposed in order to derive a reward/cost function from demonstrator's performance and to implement imitation learning. This study proposes a novel inverse reinforcement learning method based on density estimation under the framework of Linearly solvable Markov Decision Process .
He has held his current post since 2012 serving also as Faculty Dean between 2012~2013. He is a trustee of the Japan Society of Veterinary Science, Chair of the society’s Poultry Diseases Division, and an editorial member for the Journal of the Japanese Society on Poultry Diseases (J.Jpn. Soc. Poult. Dis.). His specialty field is poultry disease studies, for which he has carried out research into pathogens and preventions. He has also investigated causes of death within migratory birds .
To test neuronal correlation with task-level and motor information, we applied a stepwise multiple linear regression analysis. In order to clarify the role of serotonin in natural behaviors, we performed neural recording, microdialysis measurement and optogenetic manipulation of serotonin neural activity from the dorsal raphe nucleus , the major source of serotonergic projection to the cortex and the basal ganglia. Protein phosphorylation plays a crucial role in many intracellular processes that promote the progress of disease and change the excitability of the cells in the context of neural processing. Thanks to recent development in proteomics and genomics, it is predicted that about 500 protein kinases and 650,000 phosphorylated sites exist in human proteins.

In 1994 Dr. Yuki graduated from the Department of Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Miyazaki. She joined Kobe City Office Government in charge of rabies control, animal welfare and management at public health centers. In 2007 she was Assistant Manager at the Kobe Animal Control Center, and assumed her current post in 2012. With 15 texts, 30-plus monographs, and over 300 periodical and proceeding publications, he has moved the HAB, veterinary practice leadership and team-based healthcare delivery to the forefront of veterinary operational systems.
On the other hand, it is little known what sites are phosphorylated by a specific kinase and what extracellular stimuli activate the protein phosphorylation via intracellular signaling cascades, which is a fundamental step to reveal the complete picture of signaling pathways of cellular functions. Prof. Kozo Kaibuchi recently developed a new methodology for screening the target phospholyrated sites of a given kinase using the mass spectrometry, and succeeded in identifying hundreds of phosphorylated sites of representative kinases such as PKA, MAPK, CaMKII and so on. Aiming at facilitating to extract scientifically significant information from a bunch of the data, we developed a database platform for phosphoproteomics under the collaboration with Prof. Kaibuchi. Diagnosis of depression is currently based on long interviews. We investigate how subtypes can be identified and how they can be categorized so as to provide a basis for adequate treatment methods.
