You can get lost in a rainbow of blooms at the Qijia Flower Market. The district is packed with stalls selling everything from pastel-coloured pansies to miniature cacti and succulents. You’ll see lots of native flowers from Taiwan, as well as imported varieties.

A guide will be your local resource throughout your trip, whether that be to talk about the history of a place or to suggest an excellent restaurant! Taiwan can of course be done independently but we would still recommend a guide or local to be on hand to point you in the right direction or help recommend where to go. We got to see so much for the price we were paying and the tour group was small (only 6 people!). Each site was amazing and the tour gave us more than adequate time to explore as we wished at each site.
Located in Hualien County on Taiwan’s east coast, Taroko Gorge is renowned for its sheer marble cliffs and deep gorges. Among the shops and food stands you can find a few traditional temples as well, making Anping Old Street a great center of Taiwanese culture.
When visiting Tainan, note that November and December, as well as the months of March and April, are the best times to visit. Just a five minute walk from the Anping Fort and the popular Anping Old Street, this treehouse is literally a tree and a building that have grown together to become one thing. The building is an old warehouse built shortly after World War II, but abandoned soon afterwards. The tree is a giant banyan tree that since that time has grown to more or less absorb the whole structure.
Of course, the famous Yingge Ceramics Museum should not be missed out! The permanent exhibition is divided into 5 sections with different themes. You will learn about the history and evolution of pottery making from prehistoric period to 21st century. The first stop is Sanxia Qingshui Zushi Temple, a Taoist temple located in Sanxia Old Street. This temple was established in 1767 and dedicated to Qingshui Zushi .

The city’s popular Karato Market is famous not only as a market for blowfish but also for sea bream and yellowtail.
