What To Buy In Taiwan
Temperatures are comfortable (22-28°C) and there is little rain. As you scour the web for places of interest inTaitung, you’ll notice that many are in Taitung County, rather than in the city center. This being Taitung, there are several large-scale works on art along the coast here. Note that the Railway Village is quite a ways from the Taitung Train Station, so it’s best to get there by taxi or scooter, or on the Taiwan Tourism shuttle.
Every night it is lit up by hand-painted hot air balloons and festive lanterns. There are also regular musical performances, and many independent and aboriginal singers and bands that present exciting live performances. A former spur-line station once brought trains into the center, the former station is now part of a vibrant urban renewal project, the 'Railway Art Village'. That's a fine area in which to base yourself while in town.
This market in Pattaya offers good quality handicrafts, jewelry, and other Thai products. Other than the shopping experience, the entire market in tiny boats is an incredible sight to witness over the water of Thailand. Apart from shopaholics, this is also the favorite spot for all photographers in Thailand. This place is also surrounded by some of the best resorts in Thailand. Walk up and down the coast in either direction to enjoy the best views of the bridge. There is a cluster of shops and tourist amenities in the parking lot.
Taichung City has an extensive number of commercial areas that are very popular for sightseeing and shopping. Rent a bike at the beach and bike the Taitung City Bikeway. It follows the old train track out to near the new train station before heading back along the river eventually going through the Forest and Seashore Parks.
This small volcanic island has a lot to offer and features stunning coral reefs – perfect for snorkeling or to go diving. The best way to explore is to rent a scooter and drive around. There are a lot of superb landscapes and scenery to see as well as good trekking and diving opportunities. If you don’t like touristy places, Green Island will be a perfect fit. Vietnam also produces a variety of fine wild-grown teas in addition to plantation tea. Tea has been a fundamental beverage and a very distinctive part of Vietnamese culture for three thousand years. Tea and its related rituals are inextricably linked to ideals of hospitality, respect for elders, and calm communion with nature in Vietnam at family reunions, meetings, and celebrations. Besides the original coconut candy, there are several flavors for you, from basic ones like cocoa, ginger, peanuts, coffee, pandan, or taro, to strong flavors like durian if you dare to try them.
The train line follows the coast here, before crossing over to the west coast of Taiwan. Bring all the cash you need, and don’t come in winter, when almost everything closes. If you want to visit the beach, continue further north to Douli Beach (都歷沙灘), where you can drive right to the beach or learn how to surf at Torik Ocean Surf (都歷海洋教室). Nearby, seafood lovers can head to Fugang Fish Harbor to enjoy one of the harborside seafood restaurants. This is also where ferries depart for Green Island (see “Offshore Islands of Taitung” section below). Little Yeliu is indeed less impressive than its northern namesake.
Paragliding has long been on my bucket list but was always something that eluded me because every time I tried to fit it in last minute, it was never a good time. The cave is called the Goddess cave by the Amis people, who believed the caves were uplifted because of the killing of a beautiful lady.
Like how all the other East Coast scenic spots are, you have to visit here on a sunny day. Taitung’s ocean can turn choppy and muddy when hit by a typhoon or rain. Once you get to the top of the cliff, wait for a choo-choo train to pass along the turquoise ocean.
